Redden’ Camp
Welcome to Redden's at Longbow Lake! Our story began back in 1946 when George and Lillian Redden, along with Mary and Walter Redden and Walter's sister Wanda, arrived at Longbow Lake from Northern Alberta. The land, purchased from Charlie Stokes, held promise, despite its rocky and bushy terrain. Little did they know that this remote place would blossom into a tourist destination and a close-knit community.
Starting with humble cabins and limited facilities, the Redden family worked tirelessly to build a thriving camp. They faced challenges like transporting lumber and ice, but with perseverance, Redden's cabins multiplied, and the store took shape. As Longbow Lake's population grew, so did the community, adding amenities like a Post Office and a firehall, all achieved through voluntary efforts.
Today, George and Lillian have passed away, as well as Walter and Mary although they are still cherished by the old customers and guests. The family business which was in the capable hands of Lorne and Pat, along with their children Kelly, Leanne, and Karen, has been passed down to Leanne and Carlton. The Redden family's legacy stretches through generations, with each member contributing to various professions and endeavours across the country.
As we celebrate over 75-years, we are grateful for the wonderful friends we've made and the privilege of witnessing Longbow Lake evolve into a vibrant community. We count ourselves blessed to have been part of this remarkable growth and look forward to welcoming you to experience the beauty and warmth of Redden's at Longbow Lake.
